The customer wished to appoint one manufacturer that could support all aspects of the various connector and cable requirements within the vehicle; thereby enabling them to partner with a sole supplier without the requirement to manage numerous suppliers.
CRE, designs and manufactures their own metal shell connector range and stocks significant levels of OEM’s connector inventory. CRE are therefore in a unique position in being able to provide a “one stop” service to a customer where an industry standard product does not currently exist to satisfy the requirements of their new vehicle design.
As the vehicle design developed during the prototype stage, CRE worked closely with the customer and supplied a variety of cable assemblies manufactured with OEM connectors as well as providing bespoke CRE connector designs and termination solutions for specific functions within the AUV. This enabled the customer to both assess and select the best option for their design, thereby avoiding the need for potential compromises on power, data transmission, signal, or interface requirements.
This combination and CRE’s flexibility and willingness to meet the project requirements resulted in the customer being able to design and develop the electrical architecture required for their vehicle without compromising on their initial concept.
